This is my first build from scratch! Thanks to Ana White. Just measured my bed, its a king, to decide how big I wanted it. My bed is also on risers so make sure you double check the height you want. Just before I started this project my husband bought me a jigsaw!! I LOVE IT! First I screwed wood horizontally to the back of the vertical pieces to keep all the wood together. Then I drew the shape I wanted on a piece of cardboard, cut it out and then traced it onto the wood. This is where I got to play with my new jigsaw! I sanded all the edges to make it smooth and a little rounded. After that I stained it, you are supposed to wait a little while before you seal it but I didn't. This took some of the stain off so that you could see the wood stain better. I let it dry over night and took it upstairs, that was fun because I have an L-shaped staircase! I know it's not perfect, but I'm really happy with how it turned out! I'm still working on my bedroom so I will post a finished bed picture soon!
